Following the awful Glenfell Tower disaster, we are seeing a growing number of insurers asking contractors for more information on cladding installations. If you are, or have been involved in cladding installation these are some of the questions your Professional Indemnity of Liability insurer may ask:-
- What type of property are you installing the cladding on? Is it a school, hospital, social housing, care home or hotel?
- What is the height limit of these projects?
- Is the cladding non-combustible?
- Do you use specialist cladding contractors? If so, have you checked to make sure they have their own Professional Indemnity Insurance?
Depending on the information you provide, your insurers may not indemnify against the combustibility or fire performance of the installed cladding system.
